Foster Home Update 22.10.09

Hi, my name is Scout and I came to live at Jenny’s house over a month ago. Previously to this I lived in kennels, so I found the transition into living in a house difficult. In the kennels I was always very over-exuberant when I saw anyone, and I would jump excessively when things got exciting. Although I still do it from time to time I am getting better and respond well to commands. I have been really good with the house training side of things, I didn't realize at first that you weren't meant to "go" in the house and it took a while for me to cotton on, but I now can wait till I go outside. Thank goodness I hear Jenny say! Jenny said my biggest problem in the house is when I pinch her slipper; I don’t chew it but live in hope that she will chase me to retrieve it; she never does so I just leave it and go lie down. In the home I settle down well and if you’re sitting down I love to curl up near you.

I mix well with the other dogs but Ted the terrier keeps us all in check. I’ll share food and even toys now. I go training twice weekly and am getting better with my socialising. I now like the food I get fed when I’m in the hall, and as long as the other dogs don’t growl at me or come within my personnel space I’m fine. On walks I don’t pull but when I see a moving cat, squirrel or rabbit I am known to jump in the air and swing round. Jenny said that this was better than pulling her off her feet and she easily controls me with the harness I have on.

So, I’m looking for a home with physically fit owners, and if there are any children from the age of 12 years upwards that's fine. No cats but another dog might be fine, but it will depend on their temperament. You need time to walk me twice daily and I won’t mind if you have to go out to work. So have you got a home that would suit me? And in return I can give you a lot of love and companionship.
