Hope came to us (from another animal charity) early in December 2011. She is 14 years of age and she arrived in very poor condition. Severe malnutrition, unable to stand and over grown claws. A visit to the vets was planned and we braced ourselves for the hardest of decisions. Following a full vet assessment we found out that Hope also has terminal (mammary tumour) cancer, but other than a large visible tumour does not have any symptoms as yet. We have no idea of her life expectancy. Two weeks later through careful feeding and gentle care, Hope now weighs 21kg, still under weight but a significant improvement. Within a short time of receiving pain medication she was able to stand and now enjoys her walks.
Hope will not be put up for re-homing but will spend the rest of her days safe and sound with one of our volunteers. We wish to make her time with us special , to show her the love that people can give and the happiness of a home life.
Hope will require continuous medical care and a special high nutrition, single protein diet. Hope is being financially supported by volunteers and donations. If you feel you wish to help you can make a donation. There is a PayPal account set up on the charities web site www.adoptagreyhound.co.uk Select the "Please Help Us" button. Please mark any donations as a gift, and in the comments box put “Hope appeal”. You may also donate by cheque, details on the same page. Please write “Hope appeal” on reverse of cheque.
Follow Hopes' progress with pictures and updates and enjoy her spark for life.
Thanking you in advance.
